Cardiac Arrest BLS Protocol
This protocol has been modified slightly and replaces the previous version. Please make sure that all copies of your NYS BLS Protocols are updated with this new version.

Statewide Basic Life Support Adult & Pediatric Protocols EMT-B and AEMT
These Protocols Go Into Effect On August 1, 2003
EMS Agencies and Course Sponsors in the State of New York will be receiving copies of the 2003 version of the New York State Basic Life Support Protocols for Emergency Medical Technicians and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians. The protocols were developed by the State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the State EMS Council.
The new protocols have been updated to meet the current standard of care within New York State and to reflect all recent curriculum changes. These new protocols do not pertain to Certified First Responders. A separate protocol book for CFRs is in the final development stages at the State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee. Until the new CFR protocols are released, CFRs may use the new EMT/AEMT BLS protocols up to their level of training and scope of care within the State of New York. CFRs may also refer to their Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee and their agency Medical Director for clarification and advise.

EMT/AEMT BLS Protocol Update Presentation
This presentation includes all of the major changes, which are found in the 2003 EMT/AEMT BLS Protocols. The presentation is designed to be used by training officers, instructors, course sponsors, and providers. Three formats have been provided for your use: Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation, PowerPoint SlideShow, and Adobe Acrobat format. Feel free to download these files for use in your organization and disseminate the presentations to anyone who may need them. When using the presentation, it is recommended that you have a copy of the new protocols with you while viewing the presentation. New Adult Major Trauma Protocol
The BLS Adult Major Trauma protocol has been updated! This BLS protocol is for CFR, EMT-B and AEMT providers. This update replaces page one of protocol T-6 in the EMT/AEMT BLS Protocol Manual as well as page one of protocol T-6 in the CFR Protocol Manual. Please remove the old protocol in your manual and replace it with the updated version.
The protocol has been updated to meet the current standard of care within New York State and to reflect national standards of care. Patient outcome data from the New York State Trauma Registry was used to aid in determining the trauma criteria found within this protocol.
This new protocol can be used as soon as your agency has conducted an in-service training session to it's members. Agencies are required to assure that all of thier NYS certified EMS providers have received a copy of the protocol and have been appropriately trained in its use. A Certified Instructor Coordinator or Certified Lab Instructor should be used to conduct the training session. An educational and implementation presentation has been developed to assist you with the required training and are located below.
