Statewide Basic Life Support Adult & Pediatric Protocols for the CFR

These protocols go into effect on September 1, 2004

These protocols were developed by the State Emergency Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the State EMS Council. The new CFR protocols have been designed to meet the current standard of care within New York State and to reflect all recent CFR curriculum changes.

The new CFR protocols are currently available only on this web site. The printed version of the new protocols will be available soon. EMS agencies and EMS Course Sponsors are encouraged to download the new protocols from this web site and begin training and in-service programs.

EMS Agencies and Course Sponsors may order the printed version of the protocols once they become available. When the printed version is available, we will update this web page stating when and how you may obtain them.

Currently, CFRs in NYS are using the EMT/AEMT BLS Protocols up to their level of training as a CFR. This practice may continue until the CFRs agency has completed thier in-service training on the new CFR protocols. This must be completed by midnight on August 31, 2004.

Updates to CFR Protocols

These protocols go into effect on August 1, 2006. EMS Agencies must complete in-service training of these protocols by midnight December 31, 2006.
