Medicaid Provider Fee Increases
September 26, 2000
Dear Medicaid Provider:
All New Yorkers need and deserve access to quality health care. Medicaid is a vital component of our system, providing health care to New York State's most vulnerable citizens. We are pleased to announce an historic change to Medicaid provider fees which we believe will help insure greater access to practitioner based medical care for many New Yorkers.
Medicaid provider fees will be increased effective October 1, 2000. Medicaid providers throughout the State will receive higher fees for office visits, anesthesia, and emergency room specialty care.
This fee increase is an important part of our efforts to provide access to New York State's Medicaid program, one of the best in the nation. Our success in this program is due in large part to the high quality of medical care provided by the State's medical practitioners. The specific increases are highlighted in the enclosure.
We appreciate your continued participation in the New York State Medicaid program and hope that these higher fees encourage even greater provider interest in the program. Thank you for meeting the needs of Medicaid recipients in your practice and for encouraging your colleagues to serve this population.
