Hopewell Precision Area Contamination
Health Statistics Review
In April 2007, the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) met with Hopewell Junction residents to discuss study area boundaries for the Hopewell Precision Contamination Area Health Statistics Review, and to select an appropriate study period. The Health Statistics Review will be conducted in response to community concerns regarding TCE and 1,1,1-TCA contamination of area groundwater from Hopewell Precision, an active manufacturer that fabricates and paints sheet metal. The Health Statistics Review will examine cancer and birth outcomes among residents located over the groundwater plume. Seven Census blocks were selected for the study area. The total study population is 858, according to the 2000 US Census. The study period for the Health Statistics Review will be from 1980 to the most current year of data available.
