How Can I Get Help?
Alzheimer's Disease Community Service Program
The Alzheimer's Disease Community Service Program (CSP) funds local programs to provide education and support services for patients and families in the community. There currently are fourteen programs across New York State that assist people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their families by providing caregiver training, facilitating caregiver support groups and hotlines and providing a number of educational forums and materials.
CSPs provide the following services:
- Support Groups
Support for family members or other caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias who reside in the community. - Training Family Members and Home Health Care Personnel
Volunteers, family members and home health care providers are trained about various aspects of the disease and proper care of patients. - Volunteer Training
Volunteers are recruited and trained to provide in or out-of-home respite care services to relieve over-burdened family members. - Educational Material
Educational materials are developed and distributed to inform the public about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and available community resources.
In addition, the CSPs partner with other community-based organizations which offer a range of services and will make referrals for people with Alzheimer's disease, their families and caregivers to all resources available in their communities.
